When the pandemic began, health systems across the United States were struck with increased volume and severity of patients stepping into their facilities. Orlando Health was no exception to this as one of the largest healthcare providers in the area and ranked in the Top 100 hospitals nationwide by IBM Health. Supply chains across the globe got jammed with the quick demand for personal protective equipment (PPE). But Sorensen Logistics was able to come alongside area healthcare providers by receiving, storing, and maintaining their critical supplies during a time of need.
In March 2020, during the early months of the pandemic, the World Health Organization reported surgical masks saw a sixfold increase in demand, N95 respirators increased threefold, and gowns doubled. Medical facilities need to be prepared for the most challenging circumstances without foresight into future needs and rapid demand. As a long-term partner, they turned to Sorensen Logistics for solutions.
During the pandemic, Orlando Health needed a system to handle rapid demand for PPE (personal protective equipment) without allowing its existing supplies to fall below necessary levels. In partnership with Orlando Health, we created an inventory demand management system. This allowed optimal storage and supply of face masks, gloves, water, bleach, gowns, ventilators, and more to each of their Orlando-based facilities.
Sorensen Logistics’ warehouse was an ideal location central to many facilities. We’re also close to major delivery hubs for air, land, and rail. To date, we have received, stored, and delivered out over 100,000 pounds of PPE.
